Free MakeShop Academic Plan for Schools
 
Tokyo – October 7, 2009 – GMO MAKESHOP, the company that operates the MakeShop online shop builder ASP/SaaS service MakeShop, today opens second semester applications for Academic Plan, a free education support plan for schools and educational service providers. The special Academic Plan allows education providers to incorporate online store establishment and operation into lessons.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan provides tomorrow’s Internet industry leaders with the opportunity to learn about commerce by using the Internet to manage an online store. We offer this service to provide students with an opportunity to develop business skills and information literacy. Commercial high schools and universities who incorporate the plan into their information processing or commerce curriculums will receive a free test account and text materials, as well as teacher support from GMO MAKESHOP staff. 
In the first semester, students at Aratano High School in Tokushima prefecture studied aspects of online store management including set up to sales. The course was a success with students.

Classes at Aratano High School in Tokushima Prefecture
Aratano High School offers the only Cisco Network qualification class in the prefecture, and actively pursues IT initiatives. For approximately two months between October and December 2008, the school held two classes a week using the MakeShop Academic Plan for students at all levels. The course covered online store concept planning and design, opening a store and product display. Students prepared PowerPoint presentations of their own ideas and conducted self evaluations.
