GlobalSign Partners with SafeNet Japan to Launch Server-Based PDF Document Signing Solutions

Tokyo – May 18, 2009 – GMO Hosting & Security consolidated subsidiary and digital certificate services company, GlobalSign announces the launch this Thursday (May 21) of a server-based version of PDF Document Signing for Adobe® CDS. The automated signing solution works with SafeNet Japan (Nihon SafeNet) hardware security modules. The new service, capable of handling high-volume document-signing requirements, will enable automated server based document signing.
(*) Hardware Security Module ( HSM)
Hardware used in generating and managing private keys and other confidential information. Specifically designed for key processing, it is between several hundred and several thousand times faster than the software processing on a general use computer.

Server-Based PDF Document Signing for Adobe CDS
GlobalSign PDF Document Signing for Adobe CDS, is a digital certification service for PDF documents. Recipients of digitally signed PDF documents can automatically verify digital signatures using version 6.0 or higher of the free application Adobe Reader®.
The new server-based version of PDF Document Signing for Adobe CDS (automated signing) integrates SafeNet hardware security modules and Adobe server software to offer automated server-based PDF document signing, a process previously only available as a desktop solution. The system enables real-time digital signing of PDF documents created on the server. It is designed for high volume needs including reporting, quotes, results and other documents produced in large quantities.
SafeNet’s secure, high performance hardware security modules work with Adobe LiveCycleTM Digital Signature ES for server-based digital signing of PDF documents, and GlobalSign PDF document certification to provide document security solutions that meet the needs of enterprise and government organizations worldwide.

SafeNet HSM Products Compatible with PDF Document Signing for Adobe CDS
Luna SA
Luna SA is a flexible, Ethernet-attached HSM (Hardware Security Module) Server offering powerful cryptographic acceleration, hardware key management, and multiple configuration profiles for applications where security and performance are a priority.
Luna PCI
PCI is an accelerator card that provides the PCI interface. Main modules offer the same features and capabilities as Luna SA.

Service Merits
Automated signing process for improved client usability
Highly integrated with Adobe’s LiveCycle ES, the service offers automated digital signing, certification, and verification processes for improved user experience.

Fast processing of large volumes of documents for improved efficiency
HSM enables processing speeds significantly higher than USB tokens.

Secure Signing Process
The private key required for document signing is stored on a Hardware Security Module (HSM) integrated into the server, securing the digital signing process. The private key, essential to PKI technology, is secure inside the server throughout its lifecycle (generation, storage, destruction).

Comment from Adobe Systems Incorporated Head of Enterprise Marketing, Hideki Kojima
Providing Adobe LiveCycle ES compatible Adobe CDS solutions brings easy development of fully-digital, paperless business processes to Japan. Going forward, we expect these solutions to meet increasing a growing need to ensure regulatory compliance, cut costs and achieve process rationalization.
