MakeShop makes operating a shop on the Internet easy and fun. The sophisticated yet low priced online store construction ASP service was first launched in November 2004. Since then over 15,000 individuals, SMEs, specialty stores, and large retailers have used MakeShop to get their businesses online.
It took MakeShop three years and three months to establish its first 10,000 stores, and after a surge in growth just one year and one month to exceed the 15,000 mark. At the end of February 2009, the entire GMO Internet Group managed around 31,000 fee-paying store contracts and a total of around 70,000 contracts including free stores.

The Rapid Increase in MakeShop Stores
In the e-commerce market, companies looking to strengthen their brand and boost sales are increasingly opening stores under their own domain as well as through online shopping malls. At the same time, companies already operating stores under their own domains are switching over to ASP/SaaS services, recognizing benefits including lower costs, a full range of marketing management tools, and easy updating.
Online store construction service MakeShop, has upgraded basic operating functions and significantly increased product registration capacity to 1,000 products. New features include Image Hosting for management and storage of large-sized image files, video editing tool, Live! and electronic money handling capability. In February this year we launched Omakase Shop, a total support solution for online store establishment through to management, and we have expanded marketing tools with the addition of features such as the kakaku.com advertising tool introduced on March 3. MakeShop is committed to providing a better operational environment for our customers. This is why we have been able to develop a strong brand that appeals to a large number of users.
