EV SSL Now Available with GlobalSign SSL Managed Services Worldwide

Tokyo – October 22, 2008 – GMO Hosting & Security consolidated subsidiary and digital authentication service provider, GlobalSign announces that EV SSL (Extended Validation SSL) Certificates can now be issued through SSL Managed Service. Previously SSL Managed Service was limited to the issue of Enterprise SSL.

Issuing EV SSL (Extended Validation SSL)
The SSL Managed Service can now issue EV SSL Certificates. Due to the rigorous vetting process involved, it generally takes more than a week to have an EV SSL Certificate issued. However the SSL Managed Service makes it possible to have EV SSL Certificates issued instantaneously whenever they are required. Demand for EV SSL in Europe and America is extremely high and in response to this demand we have made the service available worldwide.

EV SSL (Extended Validation SSL)
As well as offering rigid verification, the EV SSL Certificate turns the address bar green once a site has been verified in compatible browsers (Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 3 etc.). The user can see at a glance that a web site is trusted without having to open a certificate to check certification level. In addition both the organization that operates the site and the Certificate Authority are clearly displayed in the address bar making it easy to identify that the certificate comes from a trusted source. GlobalSign launched the EV SSL Certificate for better protection against cyber crime in October 2007.

SSL Managed Service
The SSL Managed Service allows customers to have Enterprise SSL Certificates issued on demand and to manage the lifecycle of each certificate. One-time vetting eliminates the extensive registration and verification process normally required each time an SSL Certificate is issued. The administrator of a company’s SSL Certificates functions like a an internal Certificate Authority and for this reason the service is ideal for companies whose server administrators are looking to consolidate management of SSL Certificates across multiple sites. The service also offers a cost advantage with discounts applied according to customer deposit.
*Administration accounts are valid for one year from the completion of verification.
* SSL Certificates may be issued as required for vetted domains.
