New Community Features for Freeml
Mailing List Community Offers Seamless Combination of Community and Mailing List Functions

Tokyo – July 2, 2007 – GMO Internet Group company, GMO Media announces the launch today of ML Community, a complete overhaul of the community functions for freeml. ML Community adds a mailing list management function to existing community features as well as improved archive integration and sharing of photos and files.

Freeml is a comprehensive community service with community and mailing list functions. Incorporating a mailing list management feature into the community functions allows freeml to offer a new kind of community that combines "community", a communication space for user groups with the same interests or in the same geographic location, with “mailing lists”, an e-mail communication tool for  information exchange or communication between friends. Without compromising usability we now offer seamless use of both functions to all users.
At the same time we introduce a photo and file sharing function to further enhance our service.

ML Community – A new kind of community that combines community and mailing lists

1. Seamless use – Submit a topic to a bulleting board while simultaneously distributing it to a mailing list
Topics posted on existing bulletin board type communities are also sent out to a mailing list. E-mail distributed to a mailing list is simultaneously posted as a topic to bulletin board type communities.

2. View Archives of Mailing List Mail Accumulated over More than Ten Years
A mailing list archive of around 400,000 e-mails accumulated over more than ten years has been incorporated into Mailing List Community. View past e-mails in an easy to follow conversation style thread on the specialized ML Community page.

3. Flexible Community and Mailing List Settings
Under the ML Community community and mailing list viewing and participation setting users can set detailed conditions in three categories; “I want to make this available on the Internet and attract lots of members”, “I want create a space where I can have a discussion with selected friends” and “I want to use this at the office for work”.
Choose closed to create a space that can be used only for information sharing by mailing list members or choose open to expand your sphere of communication. We offer flexible settings that can be adjusted according to your purpose.
* The extent to which a Mailing List Community is publicly available is determined by administrator settings. Each user may decide whether or not to make their own participation status public.

4. Use a Nickname to Participate in a Mailing List without Making your E-mail Address Public
Hide your e-mail address and participate in a mailing list using only your nickname.

5. Websites for all ML Communities
Users that mainly use mailing lists can now also take advantage of community website functions.
The website function allows mailing list members to view each others diaries photos etc. and provides a place where users can “see each others faces” when communicating.

New Functions
A more comprehensive service now includes mailing list topic searching and sharing of files and photos.

1. Photo Sharing
This feature makes it possible to share photo albums, post photos and add comments to other photos. Share pictures of a trip by community members or an offline meeting. Upload your own illustrations and experience more enjoyable online communication.

2. File Sharing
Use this function to view a list of files attached to mailing list e-mails and select only the files you need to download. Upload files to share with other members that are too big to be attached to a mailing list e-mail (up to 5MB).
*Files of up to 1MB can be attached to mailing list e-mail.

3. Mailing List Topic Search Function
Introducing a function that has been requested by so many of our users. Mailing list archive search is now possible! An easy keyword search allows users to search masses of previous postings for a specific mail.
The length of time for which an e-mail is archived is determined by the mailing list owner. Archived mail prior to the specified period cannot be searched.
