GMO Internet Group
to Invest 1 Billion Yen Annually in AI Talent Development
Start of the “GMO AI Boost Subsidy” to Accelerate AI Utilization
~ A monthly subsidy of 10,000 yen per person to drive future productivity ~

  • GMO Internet Group, Inc.

GMO Internet Group, which operates businesses in internet infrastructure, internet security, internet advertising & media, internet finance, and crypto assets under the corporate slogan “Internet for Everyone,” will start the “GMO AI Boost Subsidy” to enhance the AI skills of all approximately 8,000 group partners (employees) and accelerate the development of AI talent.

Under this subsidy program, partners will be able to freely select and adopt generative AI tools suited to their job roles. Each group company will support the use of services such as “Tenbin AI Biz by GMO” by subsidizing up to 10,000 yen per person per month. A total investment of approximately 1 billion yen annually is planned with the aim of improving productivity through AI utilization and further accelerating AI adoption across the entire group.

Operations will begin on Monday, May 26, 2025, and full-scale rollout across all group companies is scheduled for Friday, June 13.

Background

AI technologies, especially generative AI, continue to evolve rapidly and are now indispensable to corporate competitiveness. GMO Internet Group has been promoting active AI utilization and work efficiency across all partners, under the vision of becoming the “No.1 corporate group that creates the future with AI.”

As of March 2025, AI utilization in business operations has exceeded 90% (*1). As the next step, we are introducing this program to further enhance each partner’s ability to use AI and to support their growth into “AI-proficient” individuals. Moreover, GMO Internet Group believes that generative AI is still in a transitional phase and that each tool has different strengths and limitations. Therefore, we aim to create an environment where multiple AI tools can be effectively and appropriately used through this subsidy program.

Comment from Jangbae Lee, Leader of the In-House AI Promotion Project “Let’s AI Together with love”

We’ve already moved beyond the stage of simply using AI tools provided to us. What matters now is building an organization in which each individual can identify the most suitable AI tools for their own work and utilize them effectively.
We believe it is the role of the “Let’s AI Together with love” team to remove even one more hurdle to implementation, including those related to security. When compiling the initial list of tools, we interviewed partners from a variety of job types.
“Our mission is to let AI handle what AI can, so people can focus on what only humans can do—and to support No.1-level AI utilization.” Based on that mission, we are committed to helping produce as many “self-thinking AI talents” as possible, as quickly as possible.
