JWord Announces Partnership with Unique CGM Site PingKing

  • JWord

Tokyo – March 5, 2007 - - GMO Internet Group company JWord, the company that operates the Japanese keyword search service of the same name, last month introduced JWord links to CGM* site PingKing operated by the company Web 2.0.

The Partnership
PingKing is a CGM site featuring bookmarks and reviews through which user groups can share information of interest. Each user has a page where they can publish and comment on their interests (articles, movies, products), and share them with other users. Users can expand the information on their pages by selecting from the Favorites list of other users or from a list of popular links. The site allows the user to conveniently register, share and collect information.

JWord is a search service through which companies register keywords including artist names as well as product and company names.

Now when users enter a JWord registered keyword into the PingKing search box, a link to the JWord registered site is displayed in the search results marked by a red J symbol. The user can then simply click on the link for quick access to the official site. JWord registered links will also be displayed when the user selects a keyword from the PingKing current topics list.

The partnership improves site usability by allowing users to get information related to the search term at the same time as viewing PingKing search results.
JWord will continue to form partnerships like the one with PingKing that make searching the Internet more convenient and more enjoyable at the same time as working to further expand the JWord network and provide users with better access to information on the Internet.

JWord
JWord Inc. receives funding from GMO Internet and Yahoo Japan Corporation. JWord is a simple and convenient Internet search service through which users can conduct searches by entering a company name, product name or other word directly into their browser’s address bar in Japanese. Over 39 million users have installed the JWord (our own estimates 2007/1/31) plug in on over half of all computers in Japan.
JWord also has partnerships with a number of major portal services including Yahoo! JAPAN, BIGLOBE and Excite.
Easy to read symbols like the red J symbol displayed in the search results make it easy for users to access official sites and information related to their keyword. JWord is currently used by over 76%* of all search engine users in Japan (including portal networks). *Source: Household access in November 2006, NetView AMS JP, Nielsen/NetRatings
