GMO Internet Partners with Myanmar Company, ACE to Establish Local Joint Venture GMO ACE Company Limited
GMO ACE is first local entity to offer Internet infrastructure services
Tokyo, Japan – October 1, 2014 – GMO Internet Inc. announces that newly established local Myanmar entity, GMO ACE Company Limited is today open for business. GMO ACE, a Joint Venture company established in partnership with ACE Data Systems Ltd will leverage the experience and expertise of GMO Internet Group to bring to Myanmar the first Internet infrastructure services to be provided by a local entity.
Myanmar has a population of around 50 million and Internet penetration is still only around 1%, very low in comparison to other South East Asian countries. However, the Myanmar government has recently been promoting investment in telecommunications infrastructure the Internet market is expected to rapidly develop.
GMO Internet Group has been developing and operating Internet services in the Japanese market since the dawn of the Internet. The Group is a comprehensive provider Internet infrastructure and other Internet-related services. Now the Company is leveraging its experience and expertise in developing and operating Internet infrastructure services to expand into the rapidly developing Internet market in South East Asia, with a specific focus on non-English-speaking countries. In April 2012, we began providing domain names registration services in Vietnam through local entity GMO RUNSYSTEM CORPORATION, and today the company has almost 62,000 domain names under management.
GMO Internet aims to contribute to this development, and will use its technical strength and proven expertise to introduce its services to the Myanmar market. Together with local systems developer, and driving force in the Myanmar information technology industry, ACE Data Systems Ltd, we opened GMO ACE in Yangon, Myanmar toady.
GMO ACE was launched with three services, domain registration, web hosting and SSL security. Going forward, the Group will continue to localize existing services for the Myanmar market.
