Onamae.com Celebrates Tenth Anniversary

Tokyo – September 10, 2009 -- GMO Internet accredited ICANN(*1) registrar Onamae.com, today celebrates its tenth anniversary.

(*1) ICANN (The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) American non-profit organization responsible for the global management of Internet domain names and IP addresses. It also holds the authority to designate official domain registration companies.

Onamae.com: Ten Years of Service

In April 1999 Onamae.com was appointed by ICANN to become the first domain registrar in the Asian region, and in September of the same year launched domain registration services. Thanks to the support of our many customers, Onamae.com today celebrates ten years of service. In the last ten years we have handled over 122 domain extensions, cumulatively registered more than one and a half million domain names and grown to become one of the largest registrars in Japan. Since the beginning of the year the service has experienced a surge in domain registrations and is now ranked the eighth fastest growing registrar of 853(*2) companies worldwide.

Onamae.com underwent a major overhaul of pricing in response to falling market prices in the last year and now offers among the lowest priced registrations in Japan. In addition, our diverse service line up that includes feature-rich, low-priced web hosting, DNS services, forwarding services, and shopping cart functionality as well as domain registration allows for seamless service implementation. Offering this highly user-friendly service boosts customer confidence and satisfaction and these factors have all contributed to recent service growth.
