GMO Payment Gateway to Launch Payment Solution for Social Apps

Tokyo – January 21, 2010 -- GMO Internet Group non-face-to-face credit card payment processing company, GMO Payment Gateway (TSE: 3769) today confirmed it will launch a specialized payment processing service for social applications. The payment solution for social app developers has been created with the support of JCB Co. Ltd, and major credit card companies, VISA and MasterCard. Beginning next month, GMO-PG will provide the new solution to CyberAgent group companies and other major social application developers. Moving forward, in March we expect to start advancing the service through partnerships with application developers, game creators and advertising agencies

Background
Social applications are games, tools, and other applications operated in a social networking service (SNS) environment that take advantage of the user communication and exchange aspects of the community space. Social apps are estimated to have generated over 1 trillion yen in Europe. In Japan, where they only began to emerge in the past year, user numbers are already growing rapidly and the market is expanding.
However, despite this rapid growth most social apps currently in use here in Japan are free. Paid apps have been slow to develop because application developers still have to undergo screenings and negotiate contracts with individual credit card companies, introducing each payment method separately. GMO-PG’s specialized payment solution reduces the burden of this process.
The new service will simplify the application process for developers and result in faster time-to-market for paid social apps. Beginning in February 2010, GMO-PG will provide the solution to CyberAgent group companies, Real World Co. Ltd, and other major application developers.
As well as catering to businesses that create applications aimed at social network users in Japan, GMO-PG will provide payment solutions to Drecom Co. Ltd and other developers of social apps for major international SNS sites.
In addition, beginning in March 2010, GMO-PG will seek to partner with application developers, game creators, and advertising agencies with the objective of furthering service development.

Partnership Structure

Payment Solution for Social Apps
With a flat fee structure and faster credit card payment processing implementation we expect application procedures to take just two weeks. This is significantly shorter than other processes that can take over a month.
In addition to credit card payment processing, the social app service offers a simple solution for implementing PayPal and e-money processing together with security protection. Also for the convenience of developers, the GMO-PG solution is compatible with billing structures based on OpenSocial, the common set of application programming interfaces (APIs) widely used by social network applications.

Flat Fee Billing Structure*
The GMO-PG service is provided at a fixed rate eliminating the need for application developers to spend time negotiating conditions.
Set up fee: To be confirmed
 Fixed monthly fee: 20,000 yen
Processing fee: 0 yen / transaction
 Commission: 5% of sales
  * Minimum 1,000 yen per transaction

Faster Credit Card Payment Processing Implementation
GMO-PG offers faster credit card payment processing implementation.
This has been made possible through the cooperation of companies including JCB, VISA, MasterCard and enables the use of all major credit cards.

Easy All-in-One Implementation
Using the GMO-PG SaaS-model PG Multi Payment Service, developers get credit card, PayPal, and e-money payment processing together with essential security features with easy all-in-one implementation.

Business Partnerships
Going forward GMO-PG will seek to partner with application developers, game creators and advertising agencies. Partnerships will enable us to develop solutions that leverage each company’s individual strengths and quickly respond to developer needs. The partnership structure will also allow for profit sharing through the payment of dividends, and investment in new application development.
GMO-PG will invite partners to invest in 100,000 yen units and is currently engaged in feasibility studies with a view to introducing the partnership structure in 2010.
Moving forward we will also look at forming partnerships with other related services including smart phone application developers, advertising distributors, server technology companies, and point service providers.
At the same time we are considering the formation of partnerships to establish research associations, limited liability partnerships or limited liability companies.
GMO-PG expects the Japanese social applications market to be worth 100 billion yen in 2011. We aim to make a positive contribution to the development of this industry.
