GMO CLOUD to Launch New DaaS Solution, IQcloud Desktop

Tokyo – October 3, 2011 – GMO Internet Group company, GMO CLOUD and technology partner, Desktone, today announce the launch of new secure, cloud-based, virtual desktop solution, IQcloud Desktop.

IQcloud Virtual Desktop
IQcloud Desktop is a DaaS (Desktop as a Service) combines Desktone’s virtual desktop admin tools – already used by over 10,000 users in the US – with GMO Cloud’s cloud platform. The solution allows PCs, tablets and other devices to access data stored in a highly secure cloud environment via VPN or closed network, making it possible for enterprises to provide employees access their desktop environment whether or not they are at their desks.
IQcloud Desktop Features
(1) Reduce risk of information leaks
All data is stored in the cloud and not on devices so that in the event a device is misplaced the risk of exposing customer data or other confidential information is significantly reduced. The solution is ideal for call centers and operations centers that handle personal customer data as well as financial institutions and insurance companies that demand high security at all times.
(2) Highly Secure Access to your Office Desktop from Any Location
Employees have secure access to the company’s file servers, work applications, internal networks etc. making it possible for them to work in the same way as they would in the office when they are at home or at another location. IQcloud desktop can also play an important role in an effective BCP plan, enabling employees to continue working in the event of a disaster when they may not be able to get to their office.
(3) Manage Applications
The ability to centrally manage applications in the cloud makes IQcloud a cost effective IT operation and management tool ideal not only for enterprise but for any institution that owns a large number of PCs such as universities and schools.
(4) Perform more Powerful Tasks from PCs/Devices
Application operation and file processing occur in the cloud so PCs and devices only need minimal power, and PCs that have become outdated can still be used as thin clients. This can be an effective cost cutting measure for institutions where the number of PCs required varies throughout the year.
(5) Fast Setup, Low Initial Outlay for System Building
Customers need only use the server resources they need, when they need them, saving on the time and cost of maintaining their own IT infrastructure. Also ideal for small companies and start ups looking to minimize costs.
